Introduction

Florence Amoretti came from France to Guatemala for the first time in 1998. When she came back in 2002 she met Juan de Jesus Villaterio, known as Patik, in San Marcos la Laguna. Patik became famous in Italy with the creation of stained glass-church-windows. After several years of traveling, he found his place on the Lake Atitlan in San Marcos where he settled down.

Patik hadn’t made any art since he was in Italy, but found his inspiration back around the magic Lake Atitlan. Seeing the big problem with garbage in Guatemala, he was looking for ways to combine recycling with art. One of them was to recycle used glass and newspapers to create a modern style of stained glass, in which he had many years of experience in Italy already.

Florence worked for several months with Patik and quickly developed a real fascination. She learned with him to create windows, lamps and many other objects, as this technique is almost without limits. Since then she never stopped creating, even when she was in France.

She dedicates her art to Patik, who died two years ago in Panajachel. She wants to keep this story going and feels grateful to Patik every day who had so many other ideas...

Every object is unique, made out of recycled material and comes from her heart.
